River Cruise
To welcome all of our conference guests, we agreed that there would be no better way to show off our beautiful city and newly-developed waterfront area than with a party on the Victoria Star River Cruiser! Complete with fingerfood and beverages, we plan this to be a great time to meet-and-greet all of our interstate and overseas guests. Cruising under the stars with beautiful views of the city and Docklands, this river party is one you can’t afford to miss!

Werribee Zoo and Barn Dance
"It's safari time"! Tuesday is the day to experience the African wilderness at Werribee Zoo. If it’s not the cheeky meerkats or parading cheetahs in the viewing area that impress you, the adventure of the Safari tour and array of magnificent African wildlife roaming free will be sure to amaze! Following a delicious BBQ lunch, we’ll head over to the University of Melbourne Clinical Campus, for the much-loved annual Barn Dance (run by the boot scootin’ Silver Fox). So bring your dancing shoes and cowboy outfit for an event loved by all Melbourne vet students!

Melbourne Zoo
What better place to spend a day than Melbourne's award-winning Zoo! After wandering at your leisure around the many exhibits and new state-of-the-art "Trail of the Elephants", we will be met with a keeper for some hands-on behind-the-scenes encounters! Located next to the zoo's Japanese Gardens we will be holding the Nature Vet Trivia Night. With buffet dinner – complete with drinks of course – this should make for a very memorable night!

Phillip Island
Okay, so our beaches may not be Queensland-quality…but after a strenuous academic week, we’ll be heading down the coast to Phillip Island (fingers crossed, it won’t rain.) With surfing lessons and a trip to the local wildlife sanctuary, spending a day at the home of Victoria’s fairy penguins should be a great way to wind-down. If you’d rather stay in the city, Saturday would be an opportune time for some shopping. Remember to find some souvenirs for your friends back home (poor compensation for missing an unforgettable week!)

Gala Dinner
With a breathtaking view of the city skyline and beautiful Albert Park Lake, the Gala Dinner is the final event in our long list of social functions. A three-course dinner with drinks, DJ and dance floor will turn into the biggest party of the week. A chance for lads and lasses to show off their style and get dressed to impress, celebrating friendships formed and fun times had by all!

Within our hectic social calendar will be time to see the sights of Melbourne and visit a few venues popular with local students. AVSC tradition continues with the much-anticipated Miss Vet competition and skits from each uni – so be sure to get your acts together!
