Hill's Australasian Veterinary Students' Conference 2008

Okay, so we were a bit slow out of the starting box…but after months of tracking down sponsors, speakers and Victorian venues, we’re ready to welcome you to the Hill’s Australasian Veterinary Students’ Conference 2008.

Venue: The University of Melbourne

Dates: Sunday 27 January - Sunday 3 February 2008

The Australasian Vet Students’ Conference is an annual event, held at different universities around Australia and New Zealand. Entering its 48th year, it represents a long-running interaction between Australasian vet schools (well, Wagga was a recent addition to the bandwagon…). What better way to enjoy the end of a three-month holiday, than by experiencing a Melbourne summer? Last year’s conference was in Queensland? No pressure.

The academic side of the week aims to cover topics outside of the traditional curriculum and address issues relevant to soon-to-be vets. Check out the list of amazing lectures – covering everything from equine influenza and emergency medicine to physiotherapy and feline pacemaker surgery. Workshops provide the chance for some hands-on experience, guaranteed to impress your non-conference attending classmates.

Among the week’s ‘excursions’ include trips to visit the famous fairy penguins at Phillip Island and Melbourne’s two world-famous zoos. The customary social calendar lives on with this year’s River Cruise, Scav Hunt, Trivia Night, Barn Dance, much-anticipated Miss Vet competition and a horseracing themed Gala Ball!

Be prepared for some seriously memorable (or perhaps not-so-memorable…) events. All the information that you need to attend our event is detailed below.
