
Frank Vernon Collins, born in Melbourne in 1897, was educated at Maryborough High School and graduated B.V.Sc. from Melbourne University in 1918. After service with the Australian Army Veterinary Corps in Egypt, Syria and Palestine he attended London Veterinary College and was admitted to Membership of the Royal College in 1919.
After a short period in private practice at Sale, Victoria, in 1920-1921, he joined the Commonwealth Meat Inspection Service in 1921. In 1926 he was appointed Veterinary Officer-in-Charge of South Australia and held this position until his retirement in 1962.
Frank was a strong supporter of the Australian Veterinary Association and cheerfully and conscientiously did whatever he could to assist.
