

BVSc (Sydney 1970), PhD (Melbourne 1982), FACVSc (1982), MBA (Deakin 1988), Hon DVSc (Melb 2006). In 1972-73 she received a Rotary International award to study for her Dip Bacteriology at the University of Manchester. In1975 she became a Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists 1975 and in 1982 completed a Ph.D at the University of Melbourne for studies on Rhodococcus equi. In 1988 she completed an MBA at Deakin University 1988. Her career in microbiology has taken her to Glenfield Research Station NSW, Deakin University, Vetlab, Dept Agriculture, SA and the School of Pharmacy, University of South Australia.
She was one time Chair of Animal Health Security Assessment Group; variously Chief Veterinary Microbiologist and Acting Chief VETLAB. Principal author of over 16 papers, co author and contributor to more than 10 proceedings and books. Active at divisional and national levels of the Australian Veterinary Association; (1st woman national secretary 1987/8, 2nd woman to be national president 1988/9; long time contributor to debates on issues of public health and animal welfare significance.) Foundation member of NHMRC Animal Welfare Committee. Fellow of the AVA, AVA Meritorious Service Award.
Mentor to laboratory staff and heavily involved in the training of overseas laboratory personnel. Currently, she is Professor of Microbiology in the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, University of South Australia.
