Susan Halloran B.V.Sc. (Qld 1980), G.C.M.(VP) (UWS 2000), after a short stint in mixed practice, spent the next 20 years in the Dandenongs during which time her practice grew rapidly to become an ASAVA accredited Hospital of Excellence. Sue took time out to serve as Practitioner in Residence at the University of Melbourne (1992) and act as Veterinary Advisor to the popular television series "A Country Practice". She also became the first vet in Victoria licensed to use radioactive iodine to treat hyperthyroid cats.

Sue was President and Honorary Treasurer of the Melbourne Metropolitan Practitioners Branch and a member of AVA, Victorian Division committee. She also served on ASAVA committee; developing the ASAVA Accreditation Manual in 1994. She served on the Veterinary Nursing advisory groups in Victoria and nationally for extended periods.

Sue's passionate belief in the need to improve the standard of veterinary practice management for the betterment of the entire veterinary profession resulted in her being the first person to complete the inaugural Graduate Certificate in Management (Veterinary Practice). She was a founding and long serving committee member of the most rapidly growing SIG of AVA - the Australian Veterinary Practice Management Association and has been editor of its quarterly publication, "Practice Management Matters" since 2000.

Sue has been active in veterinary affairs over a long period and received the AVA Meritorious Service Award in 1994 and was nominated for a second in 2006. She was awarded the ASAVA Distinguished Service Award in 1997.

Sue retired from clinical practice in 2006.
