Graduated from the reopened Brisbane veterinary School in 1962.  Initially worked with Miss Keats at Kern, Victoria, then at practices in NSW and Queensland.  Established the Northern Territory’s first permanent practice on the beach at Fanny Bay, Darwin in 1964.  (Previously the Northern Territory had been served by visiting veterinarians, usually from South Australia.)  Over thirty years her practice extended to Alice Springs and Gove.

At the time when women were not welcome in abattoirs she was appointed Veterinary Officer in charge of the Darwin meat works and a customs inspector of ships.  She was a member of the Veterinary Surgeons Board of the Northern Territory for 10 years and a policy councilor representing the Territory in the Australian Veterinary Association and received a meritorious service award from the Association.

Is a Justice of the Peace, serves on the Animal Ethics Committee of the Darwin University, is married with family.
