

BVMS (Murdoch 1980) Dr Kelly has been the Manager of the Animal Welfare Unit in the South Australian Department of Environment and Heritage for 11 years. She is also the Executive Officer to the Dog and Cat Management Board, which was established in 2004 and a member of the National Consultative Committee on Animal Welfare (NCCAW).
Dr Kelly worked in small animal practice for about 10 years, and prior to her working in the Department of Environment and Heritage, she lectured in Animal Management at Gilles Plains College of TAFE. She was instrumental in the development of the Dog Control Officers Course offered by the College.
Dr Kelly has a long association with many community groups that promote animal welfare and management, including the RSPCA, Animal Welfare League, South Australian Canine Association, fauna and welfare groups and cat clubs. Dr Kelly also has a long standing interest in native wildlife, and is a regular contributor to radio in SA.
