Newby, Jonica

BVMS (Murdoch 1989)  A science journalist, broadcaster and veterinarian, best known for her work in pet care, the human-animal bond, and in the media.  She is an occasional contributor to the ABC’s Science Show and more recently the ABC’s science show, Catalyst.  She created and presented a series of programs, The Animal Attraction, which has been made into a documentary feature for Britain’s Channel 4.  She also writes for Newton magazine and is the former science editor and chief journalist for The Veterinarian.on the ABC Radio National’s Science Show.  She is an occasional contributor to the ABC’s Science Show and is producing and directing the show Catalyst.

Her contributions to the profession include:

In 2006, she was awarded the Eureka Prize for Science Journalism, which is Australia’s premier science journalism prize.
