DVM (Missouri 1975) Worked as a missionary vet in Papua New Guinea, working on a pig health project with the Lutheran Church. After settling in Canberra, she worked in small animal practices and developed an interest in alternative forms of therapy, such as acupuncture, homoeopathy and herbalism. She held various offices in the ACT Division of the AVA, becoming President in 1991 and a member of the AVA Council. She was a strong supporter of the ACT Wildlife Foundation, which honoured her commitment with the establishment of the Rebecca Palmer Wildlife Refuge near Lake George in NSW. She died in 1997, receiving the AVA Meritorious Service Award posthumously.
