

BVSc (Melbourne 1977). Was appointed CEO and General Manager of the National Blood Authority in August 2003. Previously, Dr Turner was Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (previously the National Registration Authority for Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals) since 1997. Prior to her appointment to the APVMA, Dr Turner was a Division Head in the Commonwealth Department of Primary Industries and Energy and has held a number of senior government positions dealing with health and primary industries. She has represented Australia at many international forums concerned with the fishing, health, petroleum and chemical industries including the FAO, APEC, VICH and OECD.
Dr Turner has held Branch Head positions in the Department of veterans Affairs, and Health where her responsibilities have included the purchase and management of private and state health services for Veterans and pharmaceutical benefits.
