Expert role for Director of Centre for Animal Biotechnology

Associate Professor Jean-Pierre Scheerlinck, Director of the Centre for Animal Biotechnology, has been appointed as a member of the ARC College of Experts. He will commence in the prestigious position as from the 1 January 2008, for a period of three years.
The ARC engages a College of Experts to provide strategic advice and to play a key role in the identification of research excellence. Its 77 members are experts of international standing drawn from the Australian research community: from higher education, industry and public sector research organisations.
Members are approved by the Minister for appointment of periods of between one and three years. Dr Scheerlinck said: “I am honoured to be part of a group that supports the advancement of knowledge and contributes to our national research innovation.
“Within my role I will assess and rank ARC grant applications submitted under the National Competitive Grants Program, make funding recommendations to the ARC, and provide strategic advice on emerging disciplines and cross-disciplinary developments.”
Dr Scheerlinck will join the discipline group Biological Sciences and Biotechnology.
