Graduate Study
As one of the founding schools of veterinary education in Australia, the Faculty of Veterinary Science has an outstanding reputation throughout the world.
Students from across the globe benefit from our state-of-the-art facilities. They also have the opportunity to work with a team of internationally recognised individuals, whose interests and expertise lie at the cutting edge of veterinary science.
Our expertise spans a broad range of areas of veterinary and biomedical science, extending from molecular and cell biology to areas of applied veterinary medicine in agricultural production, companion animal medicine, performance activities such as racing and competitive sport, and wildlife management.
The Faculty of Veterinary Science is an Australian leader in veterinary science, providing world-class degree programs, research activities and clinical services.
Our staff have a high level of knowledge and world-wide recognition. In terms of publications and research funding, we have
the strongest research performance of all of the veterinary schools in Australia.
As a graduate student, you will benefit from our active involvement and close proximity with many of the biomedical research institutes adjacent to the University campus. For example, the Walter and Eliza Hall and Bio 21 Institutes share the same precinct. Collaborations exist with key agricultural animal industries at a state and national level, and we also provide on-farm research and consultancy services.
Our staff have national and international networks, which may allow you to undertake part of your research in another laboratory. For example we have a linkage with the Ecole Nationale Veterinaire in Toulouse, France.
