Faculty of Veterinary Science

Orientation Program

Students during Orientation Day

All students are encouraged to participate in the Orientation program activities.

The University provides an orientation program for all international students prior to and in addition to any Faculty programs

Pre-Veterinary students

Pre-veterinary students participate in the Faculty of Science program with later year Veterinary students acting as ‘student hosts’.

New BVSc students

Only students who are enrolled in BVSc 1 are eligible to participate. A detailed program is provided to each student along with enrolment information.

The program is organised by the student group under the oversight of the Associate Dean (Students) and in line with University guidelines.

The program runs during the week before the commencement of classes. The aim is to provide an academic preview of first year and a social integration in the context of activities with a veterinary bias. Generally the program may include, but is not limited to:

Tour of Preclinical Centre
Welcome from the Dean
Academic Previews of first year subjects and general requirements
Informal BBQ lunch with staff and later year students

Off campus tours – eg Police dog training facility, zoo visit
Visit to the Veterinary Clinical Centre at Werribee
