Studying Veterinary Science

Students completing Year 12 in 2009 and beyond:

  1. From 2009 students wishing to study Veterinary Science at the University of Melbourne can enter via the three year Bachelor of Science degree, undertaking the Animal Health and Disease major with the Veterinary Bioscience specialisation (available from 2011), before progressing to the new professional entry graduate Doctor of Veterinary Medicine* (DVM) program.   2. Students can complete a biological science degree at another university before entering the four year graduate entry DVM* (from 2011).

First year (or later year) Science students – 2009 and beyond:

  1. Students undertaking a Science degree at Melbourne or another institution can complete their degree before entering the four year graduate entry DVM* (from 2011).
  2. Students studying at another institution may be eligible to transfer to the Melbourne Bachelor of Science. Students must transfer prior to second year in order to be eligible enter the Veterinary Bioscience specialisation in third year. Contact the Science Student Centre for information about transferring to Melbourne.

Graduates – 2010 and beyond:

  1. Graduates can apply for entry into the four year graduate entry DVM* (from 2011).
