Professional Recognition
The degree of Bachelor of Veterinary Science from The University of Melbourne is recognised by the Australian Veterinary Board Council Inc and The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (UK) for the purposes of registration to practice veterinary medicine in Australia and most other Commonwealth countries.
From 2006 the degree has been accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). Graduates are eligible to sit the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination along with graduates from accredited veterinary colleges in the United States and Canada.
University of Melbourne graduates regularly proceed to graduate internship and residency programs and a number currently hold academic appointments in Veterinary Medical teaching institutions in North America and the United Kingdom.
