Selection Process
If you meet the prerequisites then you are eligible to be considered for selection by the selection committee.
Bachelor of Veterinary Science (current program)
Australian students
Selection will be based primarily upon academic merit and performance in university studies already completed. This is assessed particularly in respect to performance in the prerequisite subjects, but the whole academic record is also considered. See the current entry requirements for further details on prerequisite study.
The Selection Committee may consider any experience the applicant may have had in fields relevant to veterinary science and call for referee reports and employer references to assist in the selection process, or require the applicant to attend an interview to elucidate on any of the matters contained in the application or in the criteria listed above.
No preference is given to graduates over non-graduates.
International students

Deferrals
Please note that successful applicants may not apply to defer commencement of the Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree, this applies to both the pre-veterinary route and direct entry. Students can reapply, and the application fee will be waived for international students.

Overseas qualified veterinarians
If you have obtained a veterinary qualification from an overseas university you should note that places for entry beyond the first year are limited. Selection would be restricted to those with outstanding academic records. You are strongly advised, in the first instance, to attempt the National Veterinary Examination through the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council Inc.
